The history of BSides

Security BSides began over 15 years ago as a community-driven alternative to traditional security conferences. As a space where everyone could share ideas, discoveries, and passion for infosec. From its first edition in Las Vegas, BSides grew rapidly, with events popping up in cities around the world. Today, BSides takes place in over 60 countries, connecting thousands of cybersecurity professionals.

In 2025, BSides made its debut in Groningen, the Netherlands — and it was a huge success!

April 17, 2026, at Kinepolis Groningen.

BSides Groningen is organized by Stichting Friendly Cyber. Stichting Cyber Friendly is dedicated to advancing the world of cloud and cybersecurity technology. Our mission is to represent the interest of users and ensure that everyone can benefit from the latest advancements in these critical fields.

We believe that by educating people and organizations about cloud and cybersecurity, we can create a safer and more secure digital environment. Our efforts are aimed at making this knowledge accessible and understandable, so that more individuals and businesses can harness the power of these technologies.
